THE CHALLENGE
Building an AI R&D cloud lab from the ground up is a massive undertaking. It requires not just engineers, but the right engineers, people who can design, build, and operate complex cloud infrastructure in a research environment where the work is on the leading edge of artificial intelligence. The client launched the initiative with multiple staffing vendors competing for placements, and the expectation was clear: perform or be replaced.
Beyond recruiting, the client needed a partner who could do more than fill roles. As the lab expanded, they required operational support, including help creating internal procedures, managing budgets, and taking ownership of the workforce being built. That is an unusual ask for a staffing firm. For Protingent, it was an opportunity.
