Staffing Employment Expands

America's staffing companies added 15,700 jobs to their payrolls in March, according to data released Friday by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employing an average of 2.62 million temporary workers per day for the month.

According to Friday's report, at the close of the first quarter of 2006, staffing companies posted a nearly 5.2% gain over the same quarter last year. Techlink Northwest contract employment index increased 15% in the first quarter of 2006 and is 89% higher than the same time last year. This rapid growth is due to increased use of a contingent workforce in product development engineering and Techlink Northwest's expansion into new markets.
